Audio Systems: subwoofer, watts rms, passive crossover
Questionhi ! i asked a question before, ive got a Sounes 1000watt 12" subwoofer rated on the magnet as 8 ohms modelsx-1203p.ive got a gem sound 2 ohm stable amplifier rated 160 watts. its got 4 channels. my car radio is a wharfedale front loader that puts out 35w x 4. ive also got a passive low pass cross over with 200 w printed on it. when i connect the sub up bridged and turn the sound up, the sound decreases in the sub. what amp would i need to get the sub to work properly? its obvious the 160w amp is to small. please help!!!
AnswerI cant find anything on this equipment. I remember asking about the passive crossover? WHY do you have a passive crossover on a sub. THROW THAT THING OUT!!! as for the amp to run this. I'm guessing the 1000 watt rating is peak power so we're really looking at 500 watts RMS at 8 ohms. not sure what your budget is but this amp fits those specs and is a great bang for the buck:

again, DONT use that passive crossover just connect the sub directly to the bridged output on this amp.
the amp has an active crossover built in.
Good luck
