Audio Systems: amp & speakers, amp input, power speakers

I just need to know if I hook a 1000 watt amp to 2 alpine type R's the peak on them is 3000 watts and the rms is 1000 watts is that enough to push them?

Yes that will work fine. The rule to remember is that a powerful amp won't usually wreck low power speakers, but a low power amp CAN wreck the highest power speakers. Just set the amp input level so there is no distortion when the head unit volume is at about 80%.
