Audio Systems: ipod to alpine cde-7856, technical person, stereo cd

Is their a way to hookup my ipod to Alpine CDE-7856 Car Stereo/CD Player.I do not want to use the FM transmitter.
I am willing to take the receiver apart.

Yes, if you are a good technical person you can do it.

You must open up the casing and get into the volume control area; using a coupling capacitor, connect to the top of the volume control.

I am not too sure if the volume control is mechanical or electronic; either way, that is where you can inject the signal from the iPod.

You will then need to bring out a jack that will allow you to plug in the iPods output.
