Audio Systems: Auto cd changer, toyota avalon, pickup laser
QuestionI have a 2000 toyota avalon with a JBL 6 cd changer. I'm getting error code 1 on most cd's and it won't recognize others. I've checked a couple shops and they are all around $325.00 to repair. Thats too much for me . Any help?
Thanks for your ideas
AnswerThat's about what it will take. The unit must be replaced and that is what they charge.
You may find a shop who would be willing to replace the optical pickup/laser assembly - which is labor intense, but could cost some less.
Go to:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-JVidMoqbPyL/cgi-bin/autoinfo/autoinfo.asp?lp=
to find products that will fit your car. For example, you could put in a trunk mounted changer for about $159 and up.
But, before you do anything, check with Crutchfield for the sure thing fit and connect. You don't have to purchase from them and I am not selling their products; it is just that crutchfield has the most comprehensive database for car system around. They are very reliable with the information.
Hope this helps.
