QuestionI SWAPPED OUT MY ENTIRE BOSE SYSTEM IN MY 2001 MAZDA 626, THIS INCLUDES (2) 6X8 REAR SPEAKERS, (2) 4" FRONT SPEAKERS, A BOSE AMP, AND A CD/CASSETTE DECK. I AM THINKING ABOUT SELLING THE SYSTEM ON EBAY OR LOCALLY, BUT I AM TRYING TO GET A LEGIT PRICE OR EXPERT OPINION ON WHAT THIS SYSTEM WOULD GO FOR. ALL PIECES ARE IN PERFECT WORKING CONDITION WITHOUT ANY WEAR.
AnswerUnfortunately, used audio/video gear, either home or car, loses value very rapidly.
At one time there was a book that published used pricing on every kind of home electronics, but they went out of business many years ago.
Ebay is a good source to research what things are going for. I suggest you spend a little time on the web chasing after similar used items.
Don't use the Mazda price guide because their prices for factory installed systems are ficticiously high.
Things to consider:
1. You should do a research and prepare a list of all cars the system will fit.
2. You should be willing to warranty that all pieces work.
3. You should determine if the pricing would be better as a package or broken up.
4. You should check the Mazda online forums for groups that may be interested. The 626 has a little bit of "cult-car" appeal.
5. You should not expect too much; as a very general rule the value of car audio gear drops by 20% to 30% per year of its age. So, if it is 5 years old it has depreciated nearly all its value; however, you stated it was in excellent working condition.
SO: My guesstimation is that you should not expect more than $100 tops for the complete package.
LASTLY: Some people love Bose products; some people hate them. Doesn't seem to be any middle grounders!
Hope this helps.
