Audio Systems: VW Jetta 2006 Moonson/XMradio Volume problem, vr6 jetta, jetta 2006

Question
If I turn the volume of my radio UP, the FIRST loud thump ie; bass etc that the music produces, will knock the volume down by itself. I went to the dealer, and they tell me that it is a built in "safety" function" to keep from blowing the speakers..WHAT? Am I supposed to believe this? Have you heard of this or was the dealer just telling me this to pacify me?

hi i never hear of that before in any car, i own a 2004 vr6 jetta with the moonson system and indash cd changer  and it never happend  i will take a cd that you know  and go in their show room and play that on a display vehicle   
there have to be something wrong with the radio
