Audio Systems: 99 Escort Faceplate Removal, release tabs, ford escort

I am trying to remove the faceplate on my 99 ford escort to get to my head unit but i cant figure out to get it off. I see there is two holes on each end of it, but i have no idea how to get it off. I have heard someone say you need a tool, but someone also told me i can use a clotheshanger. Any ideas?

As to the faceplate itself, I am not sure.

If the headunit has a pair of din holes on each side, you can perhaps fabricate a tool by looking at these:

Basically, you insert and they are supposed to press the release tabs inward enough to slide the deck out while you pull them.
