QuestionI would like to replace the factory Clarion speakers in the rear
deck of my car (1990 Nissan Maxima GXE) since they are
completely blown. I saw (by looking at the rear deck from the
trunk) that there is a factory Clarion
amplifier for the rear speakers. Is it possible to connect after
market speakers to the stock Clarion amplifier, which is
connected to an after-market head unit?
AnswerCraig,
You can replace the speakers, however use an ohm meter and measure the speaker ohms to get a close idea of the speaker impedance/ohms. You can always go a little higher in ohms, but not lower. I don't have a service manual for a 1990 Nissan amp so I can't tell you the exact ohms of the speakers for the factory amp, the above meter trick should give you a good idea.
