Audio Systems: 2000 Taurus remote CD changer, electrical faults, radio harness
QuestionBouth the Ford Remote CD changer and wire harness for our 2000 Taurus. Located the radio harness connector in trunk and hooked everything up. CD's play but have a feedback/crackling/static noise in speakers when playing CD's. This noise is not present when playing tapes or FM radio. Disconnected and reconnected harness and removed and re-installed ground from the harness to metal frame in truck.
AnswerCarl,
Without actually hearing what the CD player is doing it would be hard to say what may be causing the problem. However the problem may be due to a power supply fault to the CD changer. Make sure that the 12 volt feed to the changer is large enought to feed power to the changer correctly. It's also possible that the CD changer is at fault itself. The first thing to figure out is if the noise is due to electrical faults or something in the audio section.
