QuestionI have a 92 Ford Taurus Station Wagon with a Premium JBL Sound System. The original radio went west on me, the radio only coming on long enough to raise the power antenna a few inches before it shuts down again and the antenna retracts.
I have purchased a replacement radio control body, matching part numbers, pins, and cables. When I power up with the new unit, the antenna rises, the radio and cd unit illuminate, stations lock and the unit seems to function perfectly.
Except that not a sound comes from the unit. This was not the problem with the original head. Are the amps matched to the head, or have I shorted an inline fuse somewhere? I would appreciate any insight you might have.
Thank you.

AnswerDavid,
If the replacement radio/stereo is the exact model number and all the plugs are plugged in, the problem with no sound may be due to one of the following reasons. 1-The amp circuits in the replacement stereo are faulty. 2-The power lead from the replacement stereo that controls the external amp is not working.
