Audio Systems: Factory installed Cassette Player wont play tape, cassette player, tape deck

Question
2000 Montana tape player had a tape stuck in it.  We carefully pryed it out (which we probably shouldn't have done).  Now the player will accept the tape, holds it for a few seconds and then spits it out again.  I have cleaned it on a regular basis as I had been using it daily.  Any advice would be appreciated.  If I have to remove it, I don't have any idea how to get to it.

The problem may have only been a worn out belt. Prying on the tape deck may have turned a minor repair into a major repair! To remove the stereo you will need to take off the trim around the stereo to get to the screws that hold the stereo into the dash.
