QuestionHello. I am in the process of rebuilding a Bose car stereo
amplifier in my '92 Infiniti Q45. Due to the heat and age of the
vehicle, many of the capacitors have dried up or leaked. I've
been researching the web and found several places that can do
the repair for about $75. Well, I'm pretty handy with a soldering
iron and have fixed TVs & VCRs for years. The timing really isn't
that great and I'd really like to save a few dollars and fix it
myself also. The problem is that I can't find the capacitors
anywhere! Might you know a good place?
I am searching for the following Radial Nichicon or equivalent
high temp. (105 degrees) caps:
Black Nichicon
3X 16v 10µf
Black Nichicon
3X 50v 1µf
Green Nichicon N132
2X 16v 47µf
Brown Nichicon H9128
2X 16v 820µf
Ten Caps total.
Thanks,

AnswerRobert,
I rebuild many of these amps. You can purchase replacement capacitors from a company called MCM Electronics
1-800-543-4330 Upgrade the 16 volt capacitors to 25 or 35 volt units. Also be sure to measure all the capacitors old vs new to be sure that you get the correct size/lengths so that you can put the metal shield back on. The 820uf caps are hard to find, I always replace them with 1000uf. Please feel free to contact me direct anytime for tech help!
