Audio Systems: Volume control repair 1990 Ford radio, random intervals, ford radio
QuestionI have a 1990 Ford Taurus with AF/FM/Cassette radio. The volume control is inoperable. The volume goes from a normal level to silence, to anywhere in between at random intervals. Is it possible to repair this radio?
AnswerHello Chip,
depending on the model number, the problem may be a defective front panel/bezel. These front control panels have a problem with the contacts coming off the circuit board and shorting out the volume up/down operation. It may be less costly to purchase a radio from a salvage yard than replacing the front panel. If you give me the complete model number of this radio I will get a replacement cost of the front panel for you.
