Audio Systems: Head Units, laser units, stereo unit

Tom, how important a role does the head unit play as far as sound is concerned?  If I had a head unit that's 200 watts, CD-r/CD-w compatible does it make a difference what name brand it is?  Thanks for your time.

If this is a car stereo unit, Most owners will not use the speaker outputs. They will usally install a higher powered amp for their vehicle. As far as the name brand, it does make a difference. Many of the odd name brands may be cheaply built with just enough componets to make the unit work. Also they will have cheaper laser units that will not last as long as the better name brands.
