Audi Repair: 2001 Audi A6 Quattro maintenance, coolant hoses, coolant level

I just purchased a 2001 Audi A6 Quattro 2.8 L. The engine coolant level is flashing - why? Is it the coolant? Do I need to use a specific coolant for this car? The coolant level should be sealed. What does this all mean and where should I start?

Yes it is a specific coolant, your import shop or Audi dealer has it.  Check the level in the expansion tank, and also look for steam or a crusty deposit near coolant hoses.  If the level is low, you have to find the leak or get the coolant system checked out.  Let me know what you find,  Jan
