Audi Repair: Audi A6 2.7t catalytic converters burning out, catalytic converters, audi a6

I keep replacing my catalytic converters (like every year) b/c they burn out.  I have an apr chip which I am told can create more heat and melt the inside of the cat.. Is there a special cat I can get to prevent this?

This is an unusual problem.  usually cats will last 5-10 years before they need replacing, although the 2.7 cats are susceptible to failure.  I would contact APR and see if they have heard of this unwanted 'side effect' and if they have suggestions.  Are you using OEM parts?  (Ouch)  Let me know,  Jan
