Audi Repair: 2003 Audi Convertible top, open seam, audi owners

The adhesive around the bottom half of convertible top rear window has "given-out" and has created and open seam.  The top  itself is OK.  Audi wants 4,000.00 + for total a new top. This must be a common problem for Audi owners.  Is there a glue or other remedy short of replacing the whole top???

The problem is that most adhesives will not hold the window, and of course the repairs cannot be guaranteed, which is why the delaers opt for replacement.  You can try going to a convertible top repair outfit, but again, not sure if they will be able to fix it permanently.  Let me know,  Jan
