Audi Repair: Cooling fan running on start up?, electric cooling fan, external fan

Hello,
just curious if it is normal for the front electric cooling fan to come on and off during engine start up to sit and warm up before driving...It really gets going and sounds like it's going to take off...Real high tone fan...It's an 2003 Allroad V-6 model. Thx Kris

Is your AC on?  Or windshield defrost?  Try switching the internal fans off; and see if the external fan stays on.  Also there could be a problem with the thermal switch in the lower part of the radiator.  Check if this may be shorted.  Is the fan always on?  Let me know,  Jan
