Audi Repair: oil light, audi a4 cabriolet, 2003 audi a4 cabriolet

I own a 2003 Audi A4 cabriolet w/ 3.0 engine.  On my dash, an oil can symbol with the word 'min' appears.  I checked the oil and it was low.  I put some oil in it but, after 62 miles, the light came on again.  When I checked the oil, the oil level was fine and when I get back in the car, the oil can symbol went away.  Sure enough, after 62 more miles, the light comes on again.  What does that mean?

This could be a bad oil level sensor, although I don't quite know why 62 miles.  Is that the distance between getting the car to a similar incline? Is your driveway steep? I would change the oil, put the correct grade and amount in, and monitor the situation.  Let me know,  Jan
