QuestionQUESTION: My dealer quoted $1500 for the repair of this on my 2001, A6, 2.7l. They told me it didn't need to be repaired right now and they put a fuse in it to enable the system, or so they said. The check engine light was off at the time but came on a week ago. The whistling I usually hear at start up is no longer there. So my questions are...1. Is this fixable with a fuse, at least temporarily? and 2. Is the lack of the whistling related.
ANSWER: These are secondary air injection system errors. I would check the air pump, secondary air hoses and the air valve... Both banks make it suspect, could be O2 sensors, how many miles on the car? Jan

QUESTION: Wow, thank you for the quick response. This is my first Audi and I live in northern Michigan, not too many repair places except the dealer.
Just rolled over 70,000. Is there a fuse that can turn the check engine light off?
AnswerNope the check engine light is turned off using the VAG-COM but will come on again immediately if the fault is still there. I don't see how this can be related to a fuse, I'm sorry. 70k is young for an O2 sensor, unless you do a lot of short distance driving.
