Audi Repair: Check Engine light codes, vacuum leaks, flex hose
QuestionHi,
I have a 1998 A4 2.8q. I recently had the check engine light come on. After taking it to get smogged, which it obviously failed due to CEL, I got back the following set of OBD fault codes p1141 and p1129. I did some research on the audiworld forums, which gave me an idea of what the problem might be, but I am wondering if you can be any more specific. The codes translate to P1141 Load Calculation Cross Check Range/Performance and P1129 Long Term Fuel Trim mult.,Bank2 System too Rich, repspectively. I have tried removing the engine paneling and looking for disconnected hoses, but I couldn't find any. I am mechanically inclined, but I don't have much experience working on cars. What do you recommend I do next? Should I try cleaning the MAF? If you could direct me to some resources that have pictures of the engine layout and MAF location, I would be much obliged, since I had difficulty finding the MAF. Any suggestions would be greatly appreaciated.
Thanks,
Yuri
Answerhello
just like you said , make sure you have no vacuum leaks, check all the small hoses ( they like to brake and start leak a lot) . You can also try to clean Maf sensor and see if there is any diff. where is it?
No problem, when you look at air filter, there is a hose ( about 3-4 inch wire) going to thratlle body . In that hose MAF sensor is installed. most of the time is right on air filter housing and there is flex hose after it. There has to be a connector on it also.
P1129 may be coused by faulty O2 SENSOR
good luck pltech
