Cadillac Repair: 1995 Deville do not start when the engine is hot, gear shift, car engine

I have a 1995 Deville with 4.9 engine. Lately I encounter a problem when I try to start the car. When the engine is hot the car does not start but I hear a clicking sound. Up to recently I was able to start it when I jiggled the gear shift, but now it does not work anymore. When I leave the car engine to cool for 20 minutes or more then it starts without problems. Please advise with possible solution.

Hello,

Your complaint is consistent with a bad starter. In fact, in such situations we would get under the car and hit the bad starter with a hammer and the engine would start warm.

The brushes are sticking in the starter.
I would recommend replacing as soon as possible because shortly the engine will not start at all leaving you stranded.
