Cadillac Repair: save a cadillac?, salvage yard, buying a new car

What do you do with a 1994 Cadilac in very good shape, 70,000 mi but needing a transmission?

If it were mine, I would call around to larger local salvage yard and get some price quotes on the installation of a used transmission. Most these yards are pretty reasonable and they are guaranty the installation and trans.

These were very nice cars and having it repaired would be a lot cheaper than buying a new car.
