Cadillac Repair: my 1988 cadillac, dash lights, gas tank

My 1988 Cadillac De Elegance Fleetwood fwd 4.5 lit. just wont start all of a sudden and the diagnostic code i get tells me its a failed fuel pump circuit what does this mean and how do fix it???

Answer
1. Remove the gas cap.

2. Have someone listen for a buzzing noise from the gas tank that will only last for 2 seconds as you turn the ignition switch to the ON position where all the dash lights illuminate, But do NOT try and start the engine.

Does your helper hear a buzzing noise from the gas tank that will only last for 2 seconds ?
