Cadillac Repair: 1999 cadillac ignition question, steering colum, cadillac repair

Lately when I start my car it won,t start and I get reading that says wait 3 minutes...then 2 min...then 1 minute. Then : START THE CAR which it does. Some say the chip on the igition (and spare key) is worn. Others say a wire in the ignition on the steering colum is worn. I am told the wire issue is $500.00 and the replace key issuse is $100.00 Which is correct?

It could be either one or it also could be the PASS-KEY module under the dash. What you need is pictures and test procedures which are quite simple to do if you are mechanically inclined or you can give the information to your local non-cadillac repair facility and they can resolve your problem.
