Cadillac Repair: 1989 De Ville d in control panel, climate control, simple test

Please give advice to problem...After running out of gas, the following starts and stops with out warning.
1)Service/Check Engine Lights
2)The letter "d" shows in fuel panel, mpg, and climate control.
3)Heater comes on high and I'm unable to shut-off or turn temp down.
