QuestionMy parents gave me their 95 Cad Deville w/65K miles. Prior to the transfer, a mechanic repaired a broken motor mount. After I received the car, I took it to Cadillac dealer to repair door lock, AC/heater (not working), and oil leak. The diagnosis was $3,500 to repair all. I declined the repairs and as suggested get a radiator flush at Pepboys. The A/C started to work, but now, the digital speedometer works on and off and when off, I get a msg "Service Ride Control". I did a cursury look under the hood and noticed 2 un-plug cables near the struts (female w/ 3holes and about 1/4" or 3/8" in diameter). After flush, A/C work but not heater. I will take to my mechanic for heater. But, is the "service ride control" something I can fix? If not, can I take it to a non-dealer mechanic or does it have to be a Cadallic dealer?
AnswerYou can take it to a non-dealer repair facility.
You will need to access the computer codes to see why the 2 sensors were disconnected.
Ask your repair facility to CLEAR the codes from the computer via the climate control panel and then plug in the disconected sensors and then re-access the computer to see what CODES appear and let me know what codes he gets from the computer.
NOTE: Disconnecting the battery will NOT clear the codes from the computer.
