Cadillac Repair: 1986 seville, purple wire, batery

Question
changed battery now car will not start cleared codes with the off and warm button still no go looking at the ecm batery says 0 volts but power to everthing else starter will not engage

Answer
ECM battery volts on the display will ONLY display battery volts when the engine is running.

Most likely the fault is with the:


1. Check for battery voltage at the single PURPLE wire at the starter with the ignition key in the start position and if you have battery voltage, Replace the starter.

2. Jumper the purple wire to the large battery cable connection  terminal on the starter and see if the engine will try and start.
