Cadillac Repair: 93 Cadillac DeVille transmission, cadillac deville, good shape

The transmission went out on our '93 DeVille ~ it had around 180,000 miles on it.  We are not sure if it is worth it to repair or replace the transmission.  There's a used transmission available with 120,000 miles on it.  The car is in good shape otherwise.  Someone said that they had heard the transmissions in the '93s were bad.  Have you heard anything like that?  What is your opinion on replacing or rebuilding it?

That depends upon the rest of the condition of the car.

To rebuild will cost you approx $1600.00. Junk yard might be couple of hundred.

It's a tough decision as if it were my car and it was in nice condition, I would rebuild the trans myself since that is what I did prior to retiring.

If the car is otherwise NICE, I would have it rebuilt.
