Cadillac Repair: ecm and check engine codes, climate control unit, prom code

Question
I have a 1988 cad brougham rwd 5.0 307, the check engine light stays
on (does not blink) I had to replace the climate control unit (the same
model and year). when i have the key in the on postion and press the
off and warm button i get NOTHING if i hold it longer i get three
blinking lights no pauses just very long blinks when i let go the fan will run
on low until i either hit the off button or any other button.  I check
all the fuses, i also have a replacvement ECM unit from the same year
and make car with the same prom code ADAY.  This car looks to have been
in a flood or something like that. the car will fire right up after
the carb was rebuilt (but after about 5 minutes of running the will idel
rough and if you press the gas it then wants to run rough and spit and
sputter also runs very rich). I assume the rough engine would be from
no comuncation from the ecm..."

On a 1988 Brougham this is NOT how you get the codes. You have to turn ON the ignition, Do NOT start engine and jumper terminals A and B in the diagnostic connector under the dash and count the light flashes. E-mail me at: [email protected] for PICTURES.
