QuestionMy 97 deville will into start. the check fuel system banner comes across the dash when i try to start the car.
this all started about a week ago, I was driving and the speedometer (Digital) started jumping around and the cruise control stopped working. Then the speedometer would be fine for a day or two and do it all over again. Then the oil light would come on , but only when the engine was warm and idling.
Are these related or are they all separate problems?
I currently have 180,000 miles on this car and it has been running well up to this point.
thanks for your help
Jim
AnswerThe speedometer could be caused by a faulty speed sensor located on the transmission which will automatically shut off the cruise control.
Have the oil pressure tested with a known good gage as it may just be a faulty oil pressure sender.
Have the fuel pump tested for proper pressure and volume. When was the last time you replaced the fuel filter ?.
A faulty oil pressure sending unit and or low fuel pressure will cause the car NOT to start.
