Cadillac Repair: Check engine, cadillac coupe deville, 1991 cadillac coupe deville

Hi Tom-

My check engine light came on in the middle of a 330 mile drive and when I pulled over to see if there was a serious problem, I noticed that my coolant was dry due to a hose leak.  I filled the coolant and taped the hose and the car has been running fine (and holding coolant) since.  However, the check engine light is still on and I was wondering if you could tell me how to reset it as I do not have the car manual.  Also, is there anything I can do to make sure that it was indeed the coolant that triggered the light before resetting it or will it automatically come on if there is a different problem?

It is a 1991 Cadillac Coupe Deville with about 102,000 miles.

1. ignition oN. Engine OFF.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons for 3 seconds and release them.

3. As soon as you see .7.0 simultaneously push and hold the OFF and HI buttons for 3 seconds and the codes will clear.
