Question -
I have a 95 Deville and when turning the key to the run position, there's a funny sound near the rear of the vehicle between the tires. Would that be the fuel pump and should I replace it?

Answer -
If the sound ONLY lasts for 2 seconds it is highly likely that it is the fuel pump. If it lasts LONGER than 2 seconds it could be many other things.

Does it sound like an air pump and is coming from the right rear wheel area ?. If it is, This would be the air compressor for your level ride suspension.

Next time you hear it watch the fender in the back in reference to the tire and see if you can see the body of the vehicle rising upwards and let me know.
