Cadillac Repair: 1994 Cadillac wont start, car wont start, lock cylinder
QuestionMy cadillac was stolen when i got it back i replaced the ignition lock and now the car wont start it says "Start disable due to Theft device" i dont have original keys with the pellets so i figured id replace the ignition lock but it still wont start. Thanks Dan
AnswerHi Dan, When you replaced the ignition lock cylinder you needed one that had 2 wires comming out of it. If that is what you have then all you need to do is go to the Caddy dealer with the blank key that came with the lock cylinder and the parts department can look up what key pellet originally came from the factory when your cart was built. There are 15 differant codes so going to the dealer is the easiest way to get the code. Then they can make 2 keys and the car engine will start. If you just installed a lock cylinder without the wires then you would need to buy the correct cylinder and install it before the replacement keys will work.
They may ask for ID to prove that the car is yours so don't be surprised. Let me know if you need anymore help. Bill
