Cadillac Repair: cylinder not firing, cadillac catera, 98 cadillac catera

Question
I have a 98 Cadillac Catera that has a cylinder that is not firing.  Any suggestions as to the problem?

Answer
I can give you a diagnostic sequence to follow but I need to know if you do not have spark at the spark plug OR is it the injector that is not firing ?.
