This car started running rough, poor acceleration, white smoke out of exhaust at times.  The repair shop replaced plugs, wires, battery, fuel filter, fuel pump & O2 sensor & it now runs worse?  Has trouble getting up to highway speeds.  What's wrong?  The repair shop gave up.
Answer -
The repair shop gave UP, Bceause they don't know what's wrong and they already got a binch of your money for things you did NOT need.

If your pumping white smoke, You most likely have a HEAD GASKET leak of which can melt internally the catalytic converter hich is why you have no power.

If this is the case what can I do to remedy the problem?  Does a head gasket leak mean I need a new motor?  What is the catalytic converter hitch?  Can this be replaced?  Thanks so much for your help!!

There is no catalytic converter hitch. It was a typo. It should have read;

If your pumping white smoke, You most likely have a HEAD GASKET leak of which can melt internally the catalytic converter which is why you have no power.

You need to have a RADIATOR PRESSURE TEST and an EXHAUST BACK PRESSURE TEST performed on the vehicle by a reputable repair facility.
