Cadillac Repair: power antenna, antenna mast, antenna assembly

Question
The power antenna on my 1999 deville will not go up or down. I can hear the motor running when I turn the radio on and off. Do I need to replace the whole unit or is there another repair. The dealer wants a ton of money to fix this.

Answer
The plastic cable that attaches to the antenna mast and to the gear on the motor has broken.

Replace the complete antenna assembly.

You can always unplug the antenna electrical wire connection and pull the antenna UP and leave it in the UP position all the time.
