Cadillac Repair: Parking Brake Release, vacuum release valve, vacuum line
QuestionI have a 1992 Cadillac Sedan DeVille that when I put the car into reverse or drive, the parking brake no longer releases by itself. Is there any way I can fix the brake so it releases on its own again? Right now I use the manual release, but I have a bad back and it hards to reach under the dash that far.
AnswerYour problem is either:
1. Loss of vacuum to the vacuum release valve on the sterring column under the dash.
2. A faulty vacuum release valve.
3. a disconnected vacuum line from the vacuum release valve to the vacuum actuator at the parking brake assembly.
4. A faulty vacuum actuator at the parking brake assembly.
