Cadillac Repair: Brake Problem, shoe material, hello bill
QuestionHello Bill,
My question is that my brakes are making a sqeeking sound when i brake lightly. When i brake a few times It kind of goes away.Should I change the drums or should I apply somethiing for now to stop the sqeeking?.
P.s can i apply something like w-d 40 or even like a grease cleaner on the brakes for now ?
thanks
your time and effort is greatly appriciated.
Alex
AnswerHi Alex, DO NOT lube up the brake shoe material or you risk not being able to stop propperly. The first 2-3 times when you brake in the morning it is normal to hear some squeaking because a lite rust build-up gets on the drums and after several brake applications the rust gets worn off and the squeaking will be gone. Changeing drums or shoes will be a temporary fix because the condensation will still be there and soon the noise will be back. Bill
