74 chevy nova 350 cid when you install the timing chain does the crank have to be on #1 tdc

Hey,

 Its a no-brainer.  The marks on the crank and cam gear point together.  That is the easiest way to put it together.  You could get fancy and calculate it a different way but that is the way you are supposed to cam time that engine.
