Sorry i forgot to give u the info on van. Its a 91 g2500 vandura with a 5.7 v8.

  If the engine is not heating up it could be the thermostat.  The thermostat regulates engine temperature with a bi metal spring and sometimes breaks.  Make sure the coolant is full and the needle is approximately half way wehn running.
