Chevrolet Repair: Tracker intake manifold frost plug, rabbit ears, frost plugs
QuestionThe frost/freeze plug has fallen out of the intake manifold (located UNDER the manifold OPPOSITE from #4 cylinder) on my '92 Tracker (4x4). Do you have any idea what the size is (most important) and is it possible to fix with out removing the manifold? I thnk with a few well placed clamps I can squeeze it in to place what have I got to lose!
Thanks, Pat
AnswerHey Pat,
I can't remember what size it is but there are a couple of solutions that I can recommend that will be permanent fixes. If it is possible for you to take a picture of it you can email it to me at

You can buy aftermarket frost plugs from parts departments that are somewhat variable in size and have either rabbit ears on the back (like a block heater) or a collapsable plug that makes the plug larger when they seal. A block heater works as well.
If it is a small hole like 10mm-15mm you can tap it out and use an oil pan drain plug and gasket with some teflon tape. Pressing in a new frost plug on the vehicle can be tough to do and even harder to get it to seal.
