Chevrolet Repair: 97 Blazer ignition lock replaced, now it wont start, chevy blazer, couple web
QuestionI have a 1997 Chevy Blazer 4.3 V6 4WD, I was having problems with the key getting stuck and sometimes not turning to the start position. The truck would start just fine until I changed the ignition lock today, now the key works fine but the truck wont start. Is there something I need to reset? I have heard "passlock" but I'm not sure exactly what that is....can you help?
AnswerIf you just replaced the ignition cylinder (not the switch) the Passlock system should not be affected. I would make sure you indexed it correctly when installing it.
If you replaced the entire ignition cylinder you may have a Passlock problem. I looked on a couple web sites to get you the Passlock procedure but couldn't find it. you can go to www.eautorepair.net and buy a 2 or 3 day subscription for the repair manual for your car. Then you can obtain the correct procedure.
