Chevrolet Repair: 94 Chev truck Z71, pumping gas, fuel pump

Hi, ran out of gas, 350 v-8, now truck will not run, added gas, get it to start, pumping gas pedal. to much pumping it dies, to little pumping it dies, wont idle. before I ran out of gas it ran perfect. Now I just dont understand what is wrong. Can you please advise me what I might need to do? Thank You Much, Jeff

Alot of times running out of gas causes a weak fuel pump to give out.  Check your fuel psi if it is not at least 13 lbs dead head then you will need a pump.  Running out of gas overheats the pump.  (the fuel is what keeps it cool)  You should try and keep at leatst a 1/4 tank in at all times.
