where is the thermostat housed at on a 2003 chevy impala?

if it is the 3.4 engine the t-stat is located under the throttle body.  There is a housing that is attached to the upper hose this is where the thermostat is.  If it is the 3.8 follow the upper hose to the t-stat housing located on the lhfront upper intake.  The 3.4 is difficult to change the 3.8 is easy.
