QuestionMy '95 GMC Suburban is a tank. Your experience, I'm sure, tells you this. The one thing that has been causing me grief is this. At seemingly random times, when I accelerate while cruising, the engine will sputter quickly, then cut out. As soon as I let off of the gas, it comes right back. If I try to accelerate through it, it causes a huge backfire, I had a large flame actually come out of the tailpipe today. I'm hoping that you know how to help fix what I have described, if you need any more info let me know. Standard gas engine, 5.7 L
V8.
AnswerHi Mario, This sounds to me like you need to look at the distributor cap,and rotor. Make sure that there isn't any corrosion inside. If there is replaced the complete dist. If it is clean, replace the cap, rotor and coil wire. I would just do all wires if you haven't done them in a while. Please buy AC Delco parts for this!!
Let me know how you make out
