Hello, My overdrive quit working on my 97 Taurus & I wanted to know where the overdrive sensor is & if there is a way to test the sensor to see if that is the problem

Hi tim,

Your OD is determined by pressure inside the transmission, and the speed of the vehicle.  I am not as well versed in Ford tranny.  I am unsure if the used a cable, vacuum, or an engine component to determine the need to kick in the OD.  It could also be just the OD solenoid is bad.  

Having the car scanned is a good idea.  My knowledge in transmission is limited, and in Ford is more limited.
