QuestionI have a 1993 Dodge Dakota with 48K miles. For a number of years it has
occasionally died suddenly while driving, just going dead very abruptly.
Sometimes I can start it back up right away, other times I have to wait 5 to 20
minutes. Sometimes it will just run rough while idleing too. For the past
couple years after it died I disconnected the battery for a short period and
this seemed to fix it for 9 months or so. Now it has gotten much worse and
disconnecting the battery doesn't help. One of the first times it did this a
shop looked at it and couldn't find any bad codes nor could duplicate it. Any
suggestions ?
AnswerAbout the only thing I can think of is a wire somwhere shorting out on occasion. Without being there I can't tell you exactly for sure. One thing I would do is after it dies, try turning it over and seeing what your missing(fuel, spark) that will give you an idea of where to start looking.
