Chevrolet Repair: truck, gas cap, fuel tank

i have 82 chevy 4by4 it has a 454 in it win i drive down the road and bring the 4barel in and have it in four a while it seames like it is not getting enough gas it seams like it is holding back

Fuel filter would be a quick and easy thing to try first.
Also, make sure your fuel tank is getting vented. You didn't replace the gas cap with a later model, non-vented cap did you?
Could be just starving it for air, and then gas.
You could try it by just loosening the gas cap.
