Hello Karl, Things to check....Power at large red wire on back of alternator- make sure that it is able to light a head light bulb. This wire is the most likely cause of your trouble. If you use a DVM it might show voltage but will not carry amps through the corroded part or bad connection, this is way you need to use a high amp light  "headlight bulb" to test the wire. The other is  the red wire going into the plug, it should also have battery voltage.
